Westchester Ballet Company (WBC), one of the oldest regional, nonprofit youth ballet companies in the United States. Founded in 1950 by celebrated ballerina and choreographer Iris Merrick and located in Ossining, New York, the company is comprised of approximately 100 young dancers who are selected each September through open auditions held at Logrea Dance Academy, the official ballet school of WBC. WBC has been under the artistic directorship of Beth Fritz-Logrea and Jean Logrea since 1986. Nick Logrea was named Associate Artistic Director in 2019. Over the decades WBC has had a measurable impact on many people in Westchester. Many hundreds of young people have benefited from the experience of training and performing with the company in its professionally produced productions. WBC scholarships have helped hundreds of young people afford and continue their dance training. And hundreds of thousands of individuals have enjoyed WBC’s performances for seven decades.
