The story begins with Mo Fan facing off against numerous challengers at the Fire School, showcasing his exceptional magical abilities. Dean Xiao intervenes to prevent him from being overexerted and further injuring himself, keeping Mo Fan's true potential a secret. Afterwards, Mo Fan discovers a peculiar anomaly in his body's healing capabilities.

A significant portion of the story revolves around a side quest involving the hunt for a vampire, Nie Dong, who's preying on young women. This quest takes them on a thrilling chase through the city, involving investigation, tracking, and ultimately a dangerous confrontation. Nie Dong proves to be a formidable opponent, skilled in Shadow Magic. The hunt reveals the complexity of the vampire's methods, including his ability to manipulate victims and fake their deaths. The hunt also showcases the bravery and cunning of Lingling, Mo Fan's young and highly skilled partner. During the fight with the vampire, Mo Fan and his allies reveal their strengths and strategy.

The main quest resumes with the party's journey to the North Burning Valley. Their expedition is threatened by a sudden and devastating Fire Calamity, which forces them to flee, barely avoiding incineration and the wrath of the Killing Armor Beasts. They find refuge in the Drifting Sand River, a dangerous area inhabited by powerful White Sand Demons. The story highlights the crucial role of Xinxia, a Psychic Magician, in navigating the treacherous river by pacifying the White Sand Demons. A memorable battle unfolds between the party and numerous White Sand Demons, showcasing Mo Fan's powerful magic and teamwork. However, their path is further complicated by the sudden emergence of a mysterious two-faced armored creature which blocks their escape route.

Their arrival in the Burning Valley is a race against time as they are forced to evade a relentless lava flow. Mo Fan acts heroically, selflessly buying time for his companions to escape. The party narrowly avoids being consumed by the lava, finding temporary safety in a hidden cavity. Mo Fan is separated from the group during this escape. He is then discovered injured but miraculously alive and cared for by a powerful Fiery Sorceress, the apparent ruler of the valley.

The story concludes with an epic confrontation between the Fiery Sorceress and Zhao Yulin's party, revealing more about the Fire Calamity Fruit and the hidden motivations behind the expedition. The Fiery Sorceress' immense power is showcased, along with the impressive Demon-sealing Ice Formation employed by Zhao Yulin and his allies, resulting in a thrilling and destructive climax. The novel ends with the Fiery Sorceress' wrath unleashed upon Lehuo Town, a final demonstration of her immense power.

He then fights two injured Class 5 Magical Beasts, sustaining serious wounds but ultimately killing them both. Jian Chen leaves the Magical Beast Mountain Range and enters Phoenix City, where he sells his accumulated monster cores for a significant sum. He disguises himself and sells the carcasses of the Class 5 Magical Beasts at the Heavenly Phoenix Auction, triggering a bidding war between powerful clans. The auction reveals Jian Chen's considerable strength, as he easily dispatches mercenaries and Great Saint Masters alike. Finally he is pursued by an Earth Saint Master from the Harido clan, leading to a chase and cliff-side confrontation that leaves his fate uncertain. He is rescued by Rosco and recovers in a small mountain village, eventually breaking through to the Great Saint Master level. The story ends with Jian Chen's breakthrough and the beginning of a new chapter in his life.

The story revolves around Mo Fan, a powerful intermediate magician with dual innate elements (fire and shadow), who unexpectedly finds himself embroiled in a major crisis in Hangzhou. He and Tang Yue, an advanced magician, are tasked with protecting the Skyscraping Snake, a giant totem beast, from the Magic Court. However, a plague sweeps through Hangzhou, and it's falsely attributed to the Skyscraping Snake. Mo Fan and Tang Yue are captured, but Tang Yue provides the snake's blood, hoping it will help cure the plague.

Meanwhile, West Fortress faces an attack by a massive horde of White Magic Falcons, led by a Ruler-level Silver Skyruler. The Heavenly Eagles, normally allies, betray the fortress due to an innate fear of the Skyruler. A young, low-ranking soldier, Wang Xiaojun, risks his life to retrieve the Red Falcon Herb, the cure for the plague, but is killed by Councilman Luo Mian, who orchestrated the plague using tainted blood serums and framed the Skyscraping Snake.

The enraged Black Totem Snake (the Skyscraping Snake), fully recovered after an ecdysis fueled by the tainted serums, unleashes its power, easily defeating Luo Mian and his allies. Mo Fan and Lingling, with help from Wang Xiaojun's actions, expose Luo Mian's conspiracy. The plague is cured, and the threat from the White Magic Falcons is neutralized by the Black Totem Snake, cementing its status as the city's protector. Mo Fan returns to school, where he unintentionally causes havoc by insulting the Fire School and its teachers. He ultimately demonstrates his exceptional strength and displays his third element, summoning, surprising everyone and further establishing his reputation as the "Demon King".

Mo Fan is forced to use his abilities and skills, including his Double Innate Elements (Fire and Lightning) and Summoning magic, to survive. His sister, Mu Ningxue, displays immense power with an Ice Crystal Bow. They are pursued through the city and then into the wilds, where Mo Fan utilizes the dangerous environment and his own growing skills to evade his pursuers. He is later forced to use the Blood Sarira, a substance that grants him incredible power but at the cost of his mental stability, transforming him into a powerful, demon-like being. He battles numerous Giant Lizards and a Razortail Drake, ultimately leading to the death of Lu Nian. He then escapes to Hangzhou, where a gigantic snake called the Skyscraping Snake appears, terrifying the city. This introduces the concept of ancient Totem Beasts and their protectors. The story concludes with Tangyue, a teacher and protector of the Skyscraping Snake, revealing a conspiracy involving a plot to kill the Totem Beast and enlisting Mo Fan's help to save it. The plague in White Town complicates matters further. A significant plot point involves the ongoing conflict between those who wish to protect the Totem Beast and those who champion a threat-elimination strategy, embodied in Councilman Zhu Meng. Several key characters are involved including Mo Fan's friends, and he even has romantic encounters throughout the story.

This novel excerpt follows Jian Chen's journey, beginning with his pursuit of the "Ten Thousand Immunity" by bathing in the blood of a Silver Striped Golden Snake and consuming its gall bladder. This process is fraught with peril, as he encounters unexpectedly potent berserk elements within the snake's blood, only to be saved by the mysterious azure and violet glows in his dantian. He then purchases a peculiar white stone, the nature of which remains unknown.

Jian Chen's newfound immunity attracts unwanted attention. He encounters a group of robbers, whom he easily defeats due to his greatly enhanced speed and skill. He subsequently joins the Flame Mercenaries, a small mercenary group. His initially hidden strength is revealed when he swiftly kills a Class 2 Magical Beast, surprising and impressing his new companions. This leads to a successful hunting trip with the Flame Mercenaries, where their profits greatly increase due to Jian Chen's skills and a new hunting strategy.

Their success, however, attracts the attention of the Zhou Mercenaries, a much stronger group who seek the cub of a Class 5 Golden Fur Tiger King that Jian Chen has found. A fierce battle ensues. The Flame Mercenaries are decimated by the Tiger King, Kendall (the Flame Mercenaries' captain) is killed, and Jian Chen barely escapes with his life, suffering serious injuries.

Jian Chen's escape leads to another confrontation with the Tianxiong clan, resulting in the death of their young master. He is forced to flee Wake City, battling numerous Tianxiong mercenaries along the way, finally losing them in the Magical Beast Mountain Range. Here, he continues to kill Tianxiong mercenaries who were searching for him, and then later encounters and defeats other mercenary groups also seeking the reward for his capture, often killing them. Throughout his flight, he continues to cultivate, and eventually breaks through to the Saint Master level. The excerpt ends with Jian Chen aware of the large bounty on his head, and seemingly content with his enhanced power and the situation he is in.

Fu Tianming is revealed as a member of the Black Vatican, and Mo Fan is pursued and cornered by his ten enemies. Following this battle, the story explores the aftermath, including Mo Fan’s injuries being healed by a kind Healing Element magician, the arrival of Nighthawk from the Magic Court, who praises Mo Fan’s actions and encourages him to join, and further intrigue around the Black Vatican and the Underground Holy Spring. The narrative then shifts to Mo Fan's participation in an inter-university exchange program, leading to a team-based magical duel against the formidable Imperial College.
